For now, if you are a graduate student with significant research interests in gender and/or sexuality, we welcome expressions of interest for affiliation with the Gender Institute. Please reach out to the Gender Institute with your name, a short description of your coursework and research in gender and/or sexuality studies, and your contact information.

We are still developing the different ways that academic staff can become involved in the Gender Institute. We look to be able to support your research, your teaching, and your impact. If you have ideas about how we can best do that, please fill out our survey, or approach us. 

In the area of research, we hope to be able to host research groups of academic staff and graduate students who have projects related to gender and sexuality underway. We hope to be able to serve as a space where researchers can share, discuss, and provide feedback for each others' research, and forge new research connections. We hope to support our affiliates and associates as they seek external funding for gender and sexuality research, and to be able to provide seed support. The Gender Institute is also open to other ways that we can be supportive of your work in gender and sexuality.  

In the area of teaching, we will engage in providing support for integrating work on gender and sexuality into programs and modules, as well as working with gender-informed frameworks for those teaching endeavors. We will maintain a list of resources for teaching and learning about gender, and host teaching-related events. The Gender Institute is also open to other ways that we can be supportive of your work in teaching gender and sexuality.  

In the area of outreach, the Gender Institute is developing its outreach program as a part of its core mission. We will share with our Associates and Affiliates (as well as the University community writ large) each of our outreach programs. We hope you will contribute to expanding our outreach portfolio. The Gender Institute is committed to being present at Royal Holloway University of London, in Egham, in Surrey, in London, in the United Kingdom, and in the world. 

For now, we are looking for Associate and Affiliate faculty members. We hope that Associate faculty members will participate in the continued development of the educational, research, and outreach missions of the Gender Institute by serving on one of its core committees. We hope that, as the Institute develops, Associate faculty members will serve as discussants at some of our events, and contribute to our curricular or co-curricular offerings. We understand that not everyone who is interested in being a member of the Gender Institute community has time to contribute to its development and maintenance, however, and the Gender Institute is interested in adding value to the experiences of all academic staff interested in research, teaching, and/or outreach around genders and sexualities. Affiliate faculty will receive notification of and be encouraged to attend Gender Institute events, be sent information about funding and research collaboration opportunities, and be kept in the loop about the Institute's activities on campus and in collaboration with other institutions and our communities.

The Gender Institute is not only for students and academic staff. The need for thinking about gender issues and advocating around them exists throughout not only our campus but also all of the other ways that we operate in and interact with daily life. We hope that all employees at Royal Holloway feel welcome at our events and in our conversations, and that we develop mechanisms that contribute to the workplaces of all of the members of our community. If you have ideas about how we can best do that, please fill out our survey, or approach us. Researchers interested in gender and sexuality at Royal Holloway, University of London are interested in developing inter-institution teams to produce cutting-edge research.
